Quick Spec Highlights: - Heirloom NON-GMO - Low Acid - Indeterminate Growth - Open-Pollinated - Sweet Flavor - 75 Days to Maturity
Seeds to Grow: Our Yellow Pear Tomato Seeds are a variety loved for their heirloom NON-GMO status, low acid content, and indeterminate growth. They are open-pollinated, ensuring consistent and vibrant results year after year. Thanks to their sweet and super delicious flavor, these tomatoes make a delightful addition to any garden.
Ideal Growing Conditions: To ensure the best growth and fruit production, keep your seeds moist but not waterlogged. The soil temperature for germination should be maintained between 70-75F (21-24C). Use a well-drained potting mix and plant seeds ¼ inch deep in small containers preferably 4 inches or less in size. Germination in-ground is not recommended.
Starting Seeds: Begin planting about 8 weeks before your planned set-out date. Keep the soil consistently warm, ideally between 70-85F (21-29C), to promote healthy germination. Cool soil, especially below 60-65F (15-18C), can significantly delay germination. Avoid overly warm soil, above 90F (32C), as it can inhibit germination and promote seed rot.
Watering Tips: Water the soil surface when it begins to dry, avoiding overwatering which can lead to fungal growth and seed rot. Excess water can bury seeds, preventing them from breaking the surface. Thinning seeds to one plant per starter container once seedlings emerge will ensure strong growth.
Light and Soil Requirements: While seeds do not require light for germination, seedlings need a light source once they emerge from the soil. Use a standard potting mix and keep the soil moist but not overwatered. Avoid burying seeds too deep to ensure optimal growth.
Bountiful Harvest: Transplant seedlings to your garden 1-2 weeks after the expected date of the last frost, ensuring soil temperatures remain consistently warm. With proper care, your Yellow Pear Tomatoes will thrive and provide a bountiful, delicious harvest in 75 days.
